You have to be careful with Strep throat infections (Streptococcus pyogenes). Just because the sore throat is resolved, the bacteria may live on in the body. This can lead to Streptococcal glomerular nephritis (a kidney infection) or rheumatic heart disease (a heart disease effecting the mitral valve).

Try to avoid doxycycline in kids. Potentially, stains teeth.

The dosing on Augmentin is based on the amoxicillin portion at 40 mg/kg typically. 250 x2 DOES NOT equal 500 because of the clavulinic acid portion. Your intestines may thank you.
