Used to clean teeth, reduce plaque, freshen breath, soothe canker sores, and support oral health when commercial products aren’t available.
Maintaining oral hygiene is essential for long-term health. This simple alkaline powder helps clean teeth, neutralize acids that lead to decay, and reduce odor-causing bacteria. It can also be used to soothe mouth ulcers and support gum health. Whether used alone or as part of a homemade toothpaste or rinse, it offers a reliable, shelf-stable solution for daily oral care in any setting.
Ingredients
- Pure sodium bicarbonate (baking soda; no additives or aluminum)
- Clean water
- Soft toothbrush
- Optional: coconut oil, clove oil, peppermint oil, xylitol, or fine salt
How to Use It
- To clean teeth and reduce plaque: Mix ½ teaspoon of powder with a few drops of water to form a paste. Brush gently for 1–2 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
- To freshen breath: Dissolve ½ teaspoon in 8 oz of water and use as a mouth rinse after brushing or meals.
- To whiten teeth (surface stains): Mix ½ teaspoon with water or coconut oil into a paste. Brush gently once or twice per week. Avoid overuse to protect enamel.
- To protect against acid damage: Rinse or brush with the paste after consuming acidic foods or drinks (coffee, citrus, vinegar, etc.) to help neutralize pH and reduce enamel wear.
- To soothe canker sores or mouth ulcers: Dissolve ¼ to ½ teaspoon in warm water and swish gently for 30–60 seconds, 2–3 times daily until symptoms improve. This helps reduce irritation, acidity, and microbial growth.
