Buckhorn Cliffs
Accessibility
I want everyone to be able to use this manual, including people who read it with a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification or high contrast. This page says what the site does about that and how to reach me when something is in the way.
The standard
The site is built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, the standard used for the Americans with Disabilities Act and in most countries' accessibility law. Every page is checked against it with automated tests before an update goes live, and the parts a machine cannot judge are checked by hand.
What that means on the page
- Text and backgrounds meet the contrast ratios in the standard, including the orange and gray used for labels and small print.
- Everything works from the keyboard: search, the menus, the filters, the checklists, the calculators and the member tools, with a visible focus ring.
- Images carry text alternatives or are marked decorative; the knot drawings are described step by step in the text beside them.
- Pages use real headings, landmarks and lists, so a screen reader can jump through them; a skip link goes straight to the content.
- Forms and controls have labels; tables have headers and stack into labeled cards on a phone.
- Nothing flashes, nothing moves on its own, and nothing times out while you read.
- The printable PDFs are text, not pictures of text, so they can be read aloud and searched.
What is still being worked on
Some older product photos carry short alternative text that I am expanding. The six field guide PDFs were laid out for print and are being tagged for reading order. If you find a page that does not work for you, tell me and it moves to the front of the list.
Tell me
Write to support@buckhorncliffs.com with the page address and what happened, or use the contact page. I read every message myself and answer within a few days. If you need the content of a page in another form (large print, plain text, a PDF read a different way) say so and I will send it.
