How do I make waterproofing paste from beeswax and tallow?

Melt beeswax gently over simmering water, never over direct heat, blend in the tallow, then pour the paste into small tins to set. The beeswax provides hardness and water resistance while the tallow keeps it soft and flexible.

What's the recipe for a tallow and beeswax balm?

The balm is a blend of beeswax and tallow, heavier on the wax, with optional additions for cooling or insect deterrence. Use only a plain batch on lips or cracked skin, never one made with camphor, menthol or pine resin, since camphor is toxic if swallowed.

How do I waterproof leather boots with beeswax?

Work a beeswax and tallow paste into the leather and use gentle heat so it soaks in. The beeswax supplies the water resistance, and treating boots before wet weather is the point.
