Melt an oil and beeswax base, then stir glycerin in as it cools. Glycerin draws moisture to the skin, and the oil and wax seal that moisture in so it cannot evaporate.

What's the recipe for a homemade skin moisturizer with glycerin and beeswax?

It combines three things: a nourishing oil, beeswax or lanolin to seal, and vegetable glycerin to attract moisture. The glycerin is stirred into the melted base as it cools so it stays suspended.

Apply a balm that combines glycerin with oil and wax to slightly damp skin before heading into cold or wind. Glycerin alone can worsen dryness in dry air because it pulls moisture from deeper skin.

The oil sets the limit, since pure glycerin keeps indefinitely. Store the balm sealed, cool, and dark, and discard it if it smells off or changes color, which means the oil has gone rancid.

Yes. Tallow works as the oil base for this balm, as do olive, coconut, and castor oil. The base nourishes skin while beeswax seals in the moisture that glycerin attracts.
