What it is
The titanium GeoPress purifier bottle (24 oz, press to purify: removes viruses, bacteria, protozoa, sediment, many chemicals and heavy metals, about 8 seconds a fill) bundled with the titanium dining set that nests with it. The bottle doubles as a pot on a stove, which the plastic one cannot.
What's in the bundle
The purifier bottle that boils, and the plate, bowl and tool that nest with it
The GeoPress Ti is the water half of my bug-out bag and the grab-and-go kit: fill it at the creek, press, and 24 ounces is safe to drink in about eight seconds, then set the same bottle on the stove to boil. The dining set is the plate, bowl and three-in-one tool that stack with it, so the whole kitchen for one person is one column in a pack pocket. GRAYL sells the pair together for less than apart, with a ten-year warranty.
GeoPress Ti purifier bottle
Filter, purify, then boil in the same vessel
Why it's included
One press removes viruses, bacteria and protozoa and filters microplastics, chemicals and heavy metals, with activated carbon for the taste. That's the standard my clean water page sets for water from an unknown source, in a bottle instead of a countertop. Because it's titanium, it goes straight onto coals or a pocket stove with the butterfly handles folded out, so the same bottle makes the coffee and the freeze-dried dinner. It's sized to slide into a pack's side pocket. Finding the creek and carrying the day's water home is on sourcing local fresh water.
What's in it
- Removes virus, bacteria and protozoa
- Filters microplastics, chemicals and heavy metals; carbon improves taste and clarity
- About 8 seconds per 24 fl oz, 5 liters a minute
- Cartridge lasts about 350 presses, 250 liters or 65 gallons
- CP4 grade 1 titanium, corrosion resistant
- Folding butterfly handles for boiling and cooking
- Fits a backpack side pocket
Titanium dining set
Deep-dish plate, bowl, and a spoon, fork and knife in one
Why it's included
High walls keep the food off your trousers and out of the dirt, which sounds small until you're eating on a tailgate in the wind. No metallic smell or taste, and the pieces stack with the bottle for storage. The three-in-one tool means one utensil to lose instead of three.
What's in it
- Deep-dish plate with high walls
- Bowl
- 3-in-1 tool: spoon, fork, knife
- Stackable, lightweight, laser-etched topo base
Worth adding to the order
The spares that make it last
Why it's included
A spare purifier cartridge is the one thing to buy with the bottle: 65 gallons is a long time for one person and not long for a family. The cook lid turns the bottle into a proper pot for boiling and straining.
What's in it
- Extra replacement purifier cartridge
- G-Ti cook lid for boiling and straining
- Coffee press kit, if coffee is part of the plan
